Frequently asked questions on colonic irrigation.

Is colon irrigation safe?

Yes. State of the art equipment and experienced naturopaths ensure the highest standard of healthcare.

Our system is “gravity fed”, low pressure. Only ultra filtered water is used and tubes and sheets are completely disposable.

Is colonic irrigation painful?

It rarely is. Painful experiences are the result of resistance and tension. A professional therapist is skilled at putting you at ease.

Sometimes, there is a light cramping as the muscles of the colon work to come back into shape. If they do occur it is brief and easily tolerated.

Most people enjoy their sessions, feeling light, clean and clear afterwards.

Will I be embarrassed?

Absolutely not! You are fully covered in a private, aesthetic room. Your therapist understands how important your comfort and dignity are and patient confidentiality is treated in the highest regard.

How many sessions will I need?

This will depend on individual circumstances. Each and every one of us has different needs and responses to the treatment.

Generally the more severe or long term your symptoms/disorders are, the more treatments you will need. However we begin with 3 sessions over 7 - 10 days and then take it from there.

Some people wonder why one session is not enough. The colon is 1.5 metres in length and is usually hardened and compacted with waste. The first session usually just starts the process of hydrating and softening, preparing for the 2nd and 3rd sessions.

How long does colonic irrigation take?

Each session runs for 45 minutes. Your first session will include a naturopathic consultation so allow 1.5 hours.

Do I need to prepare before my session?

We ask you not to eat a heavy meal 2 hours before your session.

Drinking 1 litre of water per 30 kgs of body weight is fundamental to health and increases the effectiveness of the treatment.
