Colonic irrigation is also known as colon hydrotherapy, colon cleansing or colonics. All of these are names for the process which uses warm, purified water to soften and remove waste from the colon. Colon hydrotherapy is an effective way to hydrate and cleanse the colon of hardened waste, toxins and parasites, preparing the gut to establish and sustain a healthy microbiome.
Initially you will need between 3-10 treatments. The first 3 treatments should be done within 7-10 days - either 3 days consecutively or over the week.

Generally, the more severe or long term your health concerns are, the more treatments you will need. Some people ask why one session is not enough? The colon is approximately 6ft. in length and is often impacted with hardened waste. The first treatment begins the process of hydrating and softening the contents of the colon. Subsequent sessions break down and remove waste.
Once you get the hang of it most clients enjoy their sessions - feeling light, clear and relaxed afterwards. Each colon irrigation session runs for 45 minutes. Your first session will include a naturopathic consultation so allow 1.5 hours. Add on an infrared sauna session for 30, 45 or 60 minutes. Add on hyperbaric oxygen therapy for 60 or 80 minutes.
We ask you to avoid eating a heavy meal 2 hours before your session. As a general rule drink 1 litre of water per 30kg of body weight. This increases the effectiveness of the treatment. After your treatment we recommend no processed sugar, wheat or dairy.
Not for most people, but there can be some discomfort for clients who have severe digestive issues. Sometimes, but not always, cramping can occur as the colon contracts to expel waste, however this is generally short lived. We do our best to put you at ease and make the experience as relaxing as possible.
Not at all. You will be fully covered in a private room. The small tube used in the treatment is self inserted, so you will never be touched by the therapist. We understand the importance of your comfort and dignity, and patient confidentiality is treated with the highest regard.
No. Laxatives tend to have an irritating effect on the colon, promoting watery diarrhea which passes through the intestine but leaves hardened waste around the colon wall. Laxatives use chemical or herbal formulations to produce a bowel movement. This can be effective if done infrequently, however longterm use can cause dependancy and increase colon dysfunction. Colon hydrotherapy only uses warm, purified water to remove built up waste. Rather than causing dependency, it strengthens the peristaltic action of the colon.
Yes, but there are some contraindications. Firstly we use TGA registered equipment and qualified therapists. Our system is low pressure or ‘gravity fed’ and the water is ultra filtered. All tubes and cover sheets are fully disposable. Complications are rare but can happen. We assess each client for any contraindications or previous health issues that may pose a risk. There are some conditions in which we cannot perform the treatment or need approval from a gastroenterologist. Such conditions, whether current or previous, include diverticulitis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, all digestive cancers. Certain medications are contraindicated for the treatment such as steroidal anti-inflammatories, certain antiubiotics, and some immunosuppressive drugs. Pregnancy is contraindicated. If you are 70 years old or over, you will need a referral from your doctor or gastroenterologist. Perforation of the colon is very rare and may occur in less than 1 in 20,000.

We generally have a waiting list so if you can give us as much time as possible to fill your appointment it means another client does not miss out.
